Game master class (North Bay)
October 10 @ 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
The Game Master Class (or GM Class) is not open to all players. Only players with multiple years of experience, who are twelve and up, and have been invited to join this league, are eligible. Unlike other events, this one has homework assignments, readings, and requirements for summer work experience at various summer camps. Students will be asked to read chapters from various sources provided, complete maps, design monsters, balance magical items, develop encounters, and generally prepare themselves to be able to run small events on their own for others with more success.
This class usually has field trips as well. This year we are not likely to be able to do them due to COVID, but if possible we usually go sailing through Greys Harbor Historical Seaport Authority on their tall ships, The Hawaiian Chieftain and the Lady Washington. We also usually visit the Castello di Amoroso Winery in Calistoga. If we can do these things, we will attempt them in the spring or summer of 2022.
This class is not paid for each time you attend, but is instead a flat rate, paid once, and covers the class regardless of how many times you make it to our meetings. If you miss a class, students are expected to find out what they missed, what the homework is, and what they need to catch up on.
The class is done on a pass/fail basis, not a grade system. Players either complete all the assignments to my satisfaction and have thus completed this course, or do not, and are not considered eligible for running events for others.
