All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check as well. \n\n\n\nSING UP FORM LINK HERE \n\n\n\nCost: $475 a week. \n\n\n\nLocation: The day camp is being held at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto CA.  We usually meet near the “Push” statue\, but may have to relocate depending on what other events are happening in the park that week.  If COVID-19 causes this to be impossible\, we will first attempt to secure a private facility\, and if that too is not allowed\, we will do out camp online. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Students need to bring a lunch\, clothing for variation in the summer weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events.  \n\n\n\nFood: As mentioned above\, lunch is not provided and students must bring their own lunches for this event each day.  If your child’s wishes to leave the park for lunch\, they will need written permission from you to do so. \n\n\n\nSchedule: We begin setup around 8:30am\, and start game promptly at 9am every day and play until 12pm.  We take an hour lunch break from 12-1pm and a role play only town setting from 1-2pm.  We run a second session from 2pm-4:30pm and wrap up by 5pm.  The morning is mostly active battles\, skills building\, and adventures.  The afternoon is heavily story based and advances the plot.  We may do crafting sessions if health codes allow and player express interest.  (If you need early drop off or late pickup- contact me). \n\n\n\nOne form per family – note- if you have already submitted this information for another camp and no contact info has changed\, you only need to fill out the child’s name\, indicate which camps your child plans to attend\, send payment\, and sign the back of this form. \n\n\n\nDates: \n\n\n\n\n(June 8th-12th) All Skill Level Camp! If you question your health or your child’s health in any way\, please do not come in.  Safety is first and foremost. \n\n\n\n\nParents and Students Responsibilities: the following items are needed for each student to have at the camp for their personal use.  It is the responsibility of the parents and students to make sure these items are bought every day.Bag or Box Lunch (since students cannot leave the campus\, they must bring enough food for themselves to be comfortable all day long)Fork Friendly Foods (we want to discourage any students from eating foods with their hands at camp.  If possible\, please send food that allows your child to eat with a fork\, or is wrapped in such a way as to allow them to not need to touch it to eat it).Drinking Water (students will not have access to drinking fountains or other drinking water on site\, so they must bring enough water for them to be comfortable all day long in changeable weather).Soapy Spray Bottle (this bottle should be filled with water and soap that is safe for your child to use on themself.  It can be used to spray on their hands or personal items they wish to clean when the bathroom is not available.  If a spray bottle isn’t available\, a labeled water bottle filled with soapy water should work.Small Towel (since students may need to wash dry their hands more often than usual\, it will be helpful for them to have a towel that they can dry their hands on should they need extra washing between bathroom visits).Sunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed).Emergency First Aid Card:  Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to the Game Master at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies.Permission Slips:  Many students enjoy leaving campus to get hot food at lunch and cold drinks.  If your child has permission to do this\, send a note or check the box above.  Students also like to craft larp items to keep and this requires use of sharp knives.  If your child has permission to use sharp tools for crafting\, send a note to this effect as well.\n\nBackpack or Bag for all the above items:  Since students need more personal items than usual\, providing something with their name on it that can contain all these items is a necessity.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudent Responsibilities (there are the pieces that need to be enforced with the students to be sure we are protecting each other and the use of our facilities)Students must only use the bathrooms one at a time:  We have access to a bathroom that is directly off the field\, and will not enter the other buildings at any time.  We will only use this bathroom one at a time (unless making specific prior arrangements for a buddy) and must get permission from our group leader before we do.Wash Hands before eating lunch:  Students need to be sure they wash their hands before starting to eat at lunch to reduce the chances of any germs being transferred to food.\n\nStay in the areas designated for larp only:  We have use of the space at our site for larp\, but only the outside areas which we must take care of.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you\, or your child cannot or will not comply with these procedures they will be barred from the camp and future camps as well.

SUMMARY:Club League Players Only (12 and up) Weekend League!
DESCRIPTION:Club League is by invitation only\, and players must pass tests to enter this league. The league is 12 year olds and up from 10am-5pm. Morning (character maintenance event) 10:30am-12:30pm). This event is the part of the program where players can make and maintain their characters. If you do not pay for this event\, events are still free\, but you only play GM assigned roles and must already know the rules. \n\n\n\nFanwar Club Leagues (link to the Sign Up Sheet and Payment Form) \n\n\n\n(Palo Alto & Sebastopol–2025-2026) \n\n\n\nHours 10-5pm (1st and 3rd Sundays in Palo Alto\, 2nd Sunday in Sebastopol) \n\n\n\nAges 12 and Up! \n\n\n\nInformation Sheet: FANWAR LARP is designed for players twelve years old and up. New players can only join at the start of the month.  All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville at a Fanwar event. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check or payment memo as well. \n\n\n\nReminder: This event is for experienced FANWAR LARPers only\, and all players must pass both a verbal test of knowledge about all the standard abilities in the game\, as well as a practical examination of their skills on the field and ability to follow direction at speed.   Players that fail these tests may attempt to study and retest\, but not in the same month. \n\n\n\nNew Players: We do not take any players that are new to LARP in this league.  All players must be twelve and up\, experienced with the game for at least a year\, and pass the above mentioned tests to join this league. \n\n\n\nCost: Players sign up for a season of play.  They must pay for the entire season of play (Fall\, Winter\, or Spring etc.) on the first event of the season (unless they make other arrangements). These rates already calculate in assumed weather cancelations and other breaks. If you are joining late\, you may prorate the remaining months in the season.  Players are not allowed to pay for each day they attend\, but must make one payment of the flat rate.  If they miss a large number of sessions\, they can arrange to get credit for the missed days.  Trades for crafting of supplies and repair work is also accepted for those who wish to play a lot but keep the costs down.  See Christopher for projects to do as trade. Players with several years of experience can also volunteer and attend events for free as “baddies.” \n\n\n\nLocation: The camp is being held at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto and Willard Libby Park in Sebastopol on the south side at the Gazebo. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Students need to bring food and water (if attending both sessions)\, clothing for variation in the weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events. \n\n\n\nSchedule: We plan to meet three Sundays a month and begin in the morning at 10am\, with a morning and an afternoon session.  These mission build on each other with a more detailed background and player interactions than in other leagues\, requiring players to invest in the lore and background of their character and players are expected to be able to improvise elements as needed by the GM. \n\n\n\nWeather & Emergencies: Though we plan to meet on the listed days\, there are some where we simply cannot safely run LARP outdoors.  If the fields are saturated due to rain\, and closed by the city\, or if wildfire smoke makes outside air unhealthy for kids\, or if heavy rain and wind are forecast during the hours of larp\, we usually cancel that day.  Keep an eye on the website www.fanwar.com and our Facebook Page\, for updates about date cancelations.  Because the fees are being kept low by using a flat rate\, weather related cancelations are not refundable. \n\n\n\nSIGN UP FORM \n\n\n\n1st Child                                                                                Age:                       2nd Child                                                       Age:        3rd Child                                                                                Age:                       4th Child                                                       Age:        Parent 1  Parent 2 Cell #  Cell # Email  Email Emerg. #   \n\n\n\nIs your child permitted to walk off site (out of the park) during the camp hours to go get food\, drinks\, on their own?   YES [  ]   NO  [  ] \n\n\n\nThe cost for LARP League Events is a flat rate per season.  We no longer offer Club on a drop in basis without prior arrangement with Christopher.  You may attend one or both sessions of the day for this cost (3 hours or all 6 hours\, one flat rate).  Note that these costs already calculate in some know cancelations or assumed weather. \n\n\n\nFallPalo Alto Only: $240Sebastopol Only: $90Both: $330WinterPalo Alto Only: $160Sebastopol Only: $60Both: $220SpringPalo Alto Only: $240Sebastopol Only: $90Both: $330SummerPalo Alto Only: $160Sebastopol Only: $60Both: $220Whole Year:Total: $800Total: $300Total $1100\n\n\n\nPhysical Activity Release Live Action Role Play (LARP) (the “Activity”) IN CONSIDERATION OF being permitted to participate in the Activity\, the undersigned\, on behalf of myself and my heirs\, executors\, administrators and assigns\, hereby: 1. If a spray bottle isn’t available\, a labeled water bottle filled with soapy water should work.Small Towel (since students may need to wash dry their hands more often than usual\, it will be helpful for them to have a towel that they can dry their hands on should they need extra washing between bathroom visits).Sunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed).Emergency First Aid Card:  Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to Christopher’s Box at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies.Permission Slips:  Many students enjoy leaving campus to get hot food at lunch and cold drinks. We will only use this bathroom one at a time and must get permission from our group leader before we do.Wash Hands before eating lunch:  Students need to be sure they wash their hands before starting to eat at lunch to reduce the chances of any germs being transferred to food.\n\nStay in the areas designated for larp only:  We have use of the space at our site for larp\, but only the outside areas which we must take care of.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you\, or your child cannot or will not comply with these procedures they will be barred from the camp and future camps as well.

SUMMARY:Zephandria Sebastopol Weekend League
DESCRIPTION:Once a players has attended other events and become familiar with the core rules\, they can attend this event. We do not train brand new players or players who are not playing in other leagues at this event\, so only come to this day if you already have the basic rules down\, have been to a full summer camp\, or are also enrolled in a weekly league. This storyline takes place in a distant part of the game world inaccessible to other leagues and thus the events that happen on this day and the characters we play cannot interact with other league days. Characters made in other leagues cannot play in this setting\, and only the characters we make here are available. There are many more unknown creatures\, items\, and lore for this setting\, which also uses it’s own pantheon of deities and has a different creation mythos. This league is for kids who want to explore into a more advanced mode of the game\, but only requires a basic understanding of the game rules\, skills\, and spells\, for players to join.

SUMMARY:Sebastopol Club League Event (qualified players only)
DESCRIPTION:The club league is a special storyline which players must be twelve or older to join\, and they must pass several tests involving rulebook knowledge\, game system application on the field\, and the ability to attend to the story over time. Players may take these tests at other events to see if they qualify to join the league. If they do not\, there is another league on the 4th Saturday of the month\, run by Toby Miller that is available to all skill levels\, players eight and up. All skills can join this event\, like they use to for this day. \n\n\n\nClub League is by invitation only\, and players must pass tests to enter this league. Name(s) of Participant(s) _____________________________ \n\n\n\nSignature(s) of Participant(s)____________________________  \n\n\n\nName of Parent/Guardian of Participant(s)_____________________________  \n\n\n\nSignature of Parent/Guardian of Participant(s)____________________________  \n\n\n\nFANWAR LARP DAY CAMP HEALTH SAFETY PROCEDURES FOR 2024-25 \n\n\n\nNote:  We will comply with the County Health Orders for whatever county we are currently operating in. \n\n\n\nLARP Camps Procedures \n\n\n\nWildfire Smoke Impact Prep. and Camp Plans: This year is on track to be one of the worst for wildfires ever\, and that is saying a lot given how bad last year was.  We are already well ahead of acreage burned for this time of year\, and we are in a drought\, combined with now seeing heat domes that break high temperature records becoming a regular part of the season.  It is not a matter of if we will have smoke impacts\, but when.  Thus\, I am laying out the plans for what we will do if smoke impacts out summer camps or fall events. \n\n\n\n(A) Continue as Planned (Green-Yellow): I mostly base my decisions to do LARP on a given day on the Air Quality predictions.  If they are in the green (0-50 ppm of 2.5 particulate) or yellow (50-100)\, we are good to go.  If they are forecast for Orange (100-150) then it has to do with amount of time it is forecast to cross that line.  If its only going to hit 150 or so\, for an hour or two\, we are fine\, but all day well above 150 means we have to adjust our event (see below). \n\n\n\n(B) Reduce Activities (Orange PPM 2.5 above 100-150): At these levels we\, we will adjust our day and do less running around.  We will select more relaxed and discussion based missions.  If this level of smoke combines with high temperatures\, we may cancel\, as masks\, smoke\, and heat doesn’t combine well.  Usually we will first setup cooling stations where students can get icepacks and relax as needed. \n\n\n\n(C) Cancel Activities or Go Online (Red PPM 2.5 above 150-200):  If the smoke levels approach 200 PPM for the majority of the event\, we will cancel the event or (if it is a Summer Camp) move the event online for that day\, checking back in the next day to see if the air is better.  Normally we might move indoors in a situation like this\, but with COVID\, this is a worse option in our case. \n\n\n\n(D) Change Locations: If levels are forecast to be above 200 PPM for an extended period of time\, we will move the camp to a location forecast to have better air (closer to the coast for example)\, and hold the remainder of the camp or weeks events there instead of the usual location. \n\n\n\n(E) Online if Shelter In Place: If all of the above fails\, we will then go back to online LARP\, but only if the entire region is inundated with smoke for the foreseeable future. \n\n\n\nDue to the increased need for safety procedures\, we must follow these guidelines below if we plan to attend any LARP camps.  These guidelines are based on state and county laws and keep us all safe and able to enjoy this outdoor experience.  If these guidelines are not being followed\, it jeopardizes the entire camp\, and we may lose our opportunity to attend the camps all together\, or worse\, may shut down the entire camp\, so please take these measures very seriously. \n\n\n\n1.                Parent Responsibilities (these are the pieces that need to be attended to by each family to ensure they are doing their part to protect others at the camp). \n\n\n\nProtocols for attending camps \n\n\n\n\nBefore the camp starts\, you need to contact me if any of the following is true.-Have you or your child had a fever in the last 24 hours of 100°F or above?-Do you or your child now\, or have recently had\, any respiratory or flu symptoms\, sore throat\, or shortness of breath?\n\n\n\n\nIf any of the above applies\, we need to reschedule your camp. If you question your health or your child’s health in any way\, please do not come in.  Safety is first and foremost.. \n\n\n\n2.               Parents and Students Responsibilities: the following items are needed for each student to have at the camp for their personal use.  It is the responsibility of the parents and students to make sure these items are bought every day \n\n\n\n Bag or Box Lunch (since some students cannot leave the campus\, they must bring enough food for themselves to be comfortable all day long) \n\n\n\n Fork Friendly Foods (we want to discourage any students from eating foods with their hands at camp.  If possible\, please send food that allows your child to eat with a fork\, or is wrapped in such a way as to allow them to not need to touch it to eat it). \n\n\n\nDrinking Water (students will not have access to drinking fountains or other drinking water on site\, so they must bring enough water for them to be comfortable all day long in changeable weather). \n\n\n\nSunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed). \n\n\n\nEmergency First Aid Card:  Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to Christopher’s Box at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies. \n\n\n\nBackpack or Bag for all the above items:  Since students need more personal items than usual\, providing something with their name on it that can contain all these items is a necessity. \n\n\n\nCamp Chair or Seat:  Not required but often enjoyed in the park\, an easy to carry or move camp seat or stool can be quite welcome at LARP.

This league is for kids who want to explore into a more advanced mode of the game\, but only requires a basic understanding of the game rules\, skills\, and spells\, for players to join.
