SUMMARY:GM Class (Learn to be a Helper or GM)
DESCRIPTION:The GM Class is for players twelve and up only\, who are ready to take the next step from being just players in the game to being Helpers and/or Game Masters. The class meets once a month and covers a lot of classroom management skills\, practice with difficult children\, game design concepts\, historical information\, game balance issues\, world building\, and much more. Player sign up for one year\, and must commit to volunteering for at least one Summer Camp where they will practice their skills. At the end of this class\, players must turn in a portfolio of each assignment that was due each month and write an essay on what they have learned\, how they have changed\, and what they still need to do to grow. See Christopher for more information. This class is being held in Palo Alto this year\, right after the Character League at Mitchell Park on the third Saturday of the month.

SUMMARY:Zephandria Sebastopol Weekend League
DESCRIPTION:Once a players has attended other events and become familiar with the core rules\, they can attend this event. We do not train brand new players or players who are not playing in other leagues at this event\, so only come to this day if you already have the basic rules down\, have been to a full summer camp\, or are also enrolled in a weekly league. This storyline takes place in a distant part of the game world inaccessible to other leagues and thus the events that happen on this day and the characters we play cannot interact with other league days. Characters made in other leagues cannot play in this setting\, and only the characters we make here are available. There are many more unknown creatures\, items\, and lore for this setting\, which also uses it’s own pantheon of deities and has a different creation mythos. This league is for kids who want to explore into a more advanced mode of the game\, but only requires a basic understanding of the game rules\, skills\, and spells\, for players to join.

If you question your health or your child’s health in any way\, please do not come in.  Safety is first and foremost. \n\n\n\n\nParents and Students Responsibilities: the following items are needed for each student to have at the camp for their personal use.  It is the responsibility of the parents and students to make sure these items are bought every day.Bag or Box Lunch (since students cannot leave the campus\, they must bring enough food for themselves to be comfortable all day long)Fork Friendly Foods (we want to discourage any students from eating foods with their hands at camp.  If possible\, please send food that allows your child to eat with a fork\, or is wrapped in such a way as to allow them to not need to touch it to eat it).Drinking Water (students will not have access to drinking fountains or other drinking water on site\, so they must bring enough water for them to be comfortable all day long in changeable weather).Soapy Spray Bottle (this bottle should be filled with water and soap that is safe for your child to use on themself.  It can be used to spray on their hands or personal items they wish to clean when the bathroom is not available.  If a spray bottle isn’t available\, a labeled water bottle filled with soapy water should work.Small Towel (since students may need to wash dry their hands more often than usual\, it will be helpful for them to have a towel that they can dry their hands on should they need extra washing between bathroom visits).Sunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed).Emergency First Aid Card:  Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to Christopher’s Box at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies.Permission Slips:  Many students enjoy leaving campus to get hot food at lunch and cold drinks.  If your child has permission to do this\, send a note or check the box above.  Students also like to craft larp items to keep and this requires use of sharp knives.  If your child has permission to use sharp tools for crafting\, send a note to this effect as well.\n\nBackpack or Bag for all the above items:  Since students need more personal items than usual\, providing something with their name on it that can contain all these items is a necessity.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nStudent Responsibilities (there are the pieces that need to be enforced with the students to be sure we are protecting each other and the use of our facilities)Students must only use the bathrooms one at a time:  We have access to a bathroom that is directly off the field\, and will not enter the other buildings at any time.  We will only use this bathroom one at a time and must get permission from our group leader before we do.Wash Hands before eating lunch:  Students need to be sure they wash their hands before starting to eat at lunch to reduce the chances of any germs being transferred to food.\n\nStay in the areas designated for larp only:  We have use of the space at our site for larp\, but only the outside areas which we must take care of.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf you\, or your child cannot or will not comply with these procedures they will be barred from the camp and future camps as well.

To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check as well. \n\n\n\nCOVID-19 Update: Since we cannot predict the state of viral spread in the summer\, it is best to be prepared for changes in requirements and cohorts.  Currently\, masking is optional\, and there are no limits on students mixing with other groups but that could change\, so stay alert for updates. \n\n\n\nCost: The week costs $425 per person. \n\n\n\nLocation: The day camp is being held at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto CA.  We usually meet near the “Push” statue\, but may have to relocate depending on what other events are happening in the park that week.  If COVID-19 causes this to be impossible\, we will first attempt to secure a private facility\, and if that too is not allowed\, we will do out camp online. \n\n\n\nWhat to bring: Students need to bring a lunch\, clothing for variation in the summer weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events.  \n\n\n\nFood: As mentioned above\, lunch is not provided and students must bring their own lunches for this event each day.  If your child’s wishes to leave the park for lunch\, they will need written permission from you to do so. \n\n\n\nSchedule: We begin setup around 8:30am\, and start game promptly at 9am every day and play until 12pm.  We take an hour lunch break from 12-1pm and a role play only town setting from 1-2pm.  We run a second session from 2pm-4:30pm and wrap up by 5pm.  The morning is mostly active battles\, skills building\, and adventures.  The afternoon is heavily story based and advances the plot.  We may do crafting sessions if health codes allow and player express interest.  (If you need early drop off or late pickup- contact me). \n\n\n\nOne form per family – note- if you have already submitted this information for another camp and no contact info has changed\, you only need to fill out the child’s name\, indicate which camps your child plans to attend\, send payment\, and sign the back of this form. \n\n\n\nDates: \n\n\n\n\nJune (June 3rd-7th) New Characters Camp!

SUMMARY:Sebastopol Character League
DESCRIPTION:This is a Character League run by James that continues the story we are running on the previous weekend. Players don’t need to attend both weekends\, in fact\, the setting is designed with the assumption that many players will attend this weekend only and not the other. New players can get training here as well. Players are also welcome to come and just play monsters and other roles the GM assigns to them (provided they have been trained) at no cost. Playing a character in this league is what players pay for. Note: Christopher Melville does not attend this event. It is run by James only.

DESCRIPTION:Fanwar Camps \n\n\n\n(Palo Alto – SUMMER 2024) \n\n\n\nSummer Hours 9am- 5:00pm! \n\n\n\nInformation \n\n\n\nRegistration: Camps are for kids ages 9 and up (exceptions can be made for 8’s with siblings at the camp\, or with previous training or experience). All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. New player training available.  Basic crafting only.\n\n\n\nJune (June 17th-21st) New Characters Camp!

SUMMARY:CANCELED DUE TO FAMILY EMERGENCY! Zephandria Sebastopol Weekend League
DESCRIPTION:(CANCELED DUE FAMILY EMERGENCY- You may known that my mom passed away earlier this week. I am taking this day to be with my brothers. We won’t be doing Saturday league on the 13th.) \n\n\n\nOnce a players has attended other events and become familiar with the core rules\, they can attend this event.
