SUMMARY:CANCELED! Character Quest League (Palo Alto)
DESCRIPTION:Hello All LARP Parents and communities\, \nDue to the increasing mandates from the state\, and school closures in all the areas we run events\, LARP will be closing until April. It is not advisable for students to be engaging in Live Action Role Play at this time and as such all events are canceled. If things are looking more promising we will begin classes again after April 3rd. During this three week break from in person events\, I have recommendations for how students can stay connected with each other\, continue to advance the story of their world\, and engage in learning\, imagination\, and fun\, even if we are not meeting. Check the website for guidelines and recommendations for online gaming and LARP related activities\, which I will post in the upcoming days. Stay healthy and thank you for all the years of support and connection our leagues have provided and your kids have contributed to our gaming world. \nAll my best\, \nChristopher Melville\nwww.fanwar.com

SUMMARY:NOW ONLINE! Palo Alto Weekly League
DESCRIPTION:Out League has moved online for the time being.  Here is the info you may need to join in. \nIf you want to get involved in our online games\, here are the links that you will need.  We usually meet up in a Google\nDoc as the main place to get information on what is happening that day.  We also share information on the game voice\nchat network Discord\, which allows people to talk to each other and chat while they are running a game.  I sometimes\nwill post a Livestream of my events so players who show up late can see what we are doing and see how to join a game\nthat still needs more players.  Once players are on the Google Doc\, they usually sign up for a Game Master who they\nwant to run a quest with.  That Game Master will post a link to their Roll20.net game space which the kids join.  They\nalso sometimes post a Discord voice link so they can all talk to each other.  Once in the game\, they run quests for about\nan hour and a half and then return to the Google Doc to see if they want to switch groups or stay on their quest.  We\nrun about seven to eight hours of quests a day and player can do just a little or all of it if they wish.  Below is the\nschedule for games\, the links needed to be ready to play\, and guidelines for doing so. \nSchedule of Current Games for April \nMonday – Tony and his teams runs Teriock Game World Online in the afternoon.  Here is the link\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dz0QvtjGRRZjOxhl-hntgkOyl4woXqW_4RHzZke6Nk4/edit \nTuesday – Tony and his teams runs Teriock Game World Online – same link.\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1Dz0QvtjGRRZjOxhl-hntgkOyl4woXqW_4RHzZke6Nk4/edit \nWednesday – I run Roekron Game World Online for the Wednesday League players.  The link for those games is here.\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1Cc-TKgPv3UfjxB6z7OcLmnq5UYORbNp9i7jDpfenxs4/edit \nThursday – I run Roekron Game World Online for the Thursday League players. The link for those game is here.\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1438Vjla3u2VCM3h_Om08p374FMFDpGQZsGw18IEM57U/edit \nFriday (there are no scheduled games\, but often players run missions they didn’t get to on other days) \nSaturday – almost every Saturday I will be running events for either the Wednesday League (Third Saturday)\, or the\nThursday League (Second Saturday)\, or all leagues (First Saturday).  Feel free to join.  We use the same Google Docs as\nnormal for these events. \nSunday- almost every Sunday I will be running events for the Adult and Club Leagues or the Zephandria League.  The\nlink for Adult and Club is available here\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/1BH95G021puuTA4NKtx6PwHC_AIxCeTY_riuQ9gnkqvc/edit \nIf you want to see our Table Top FANWAR Rules\, go here\nhttps://docs.google.com/document/d/10Mi2zdAr8K5ataWheYbctfpWGJbhHmTiZ_AmH4OXf2M/edit# \nIf you need to get a Roll20.net account\, go here and sign up.\nhttps://roll20.net/welcome \nIf you need to get a Discord account\, go here to sign up.\nhttps://discordapp.com/ \n  \nSIGN UP FORMS HERE \nLive Action Role Playing is a tremendous teaching tool and capable of dynamic\, physically driven learning that transcends the usual boundaries of standard education. Due to the interactive\, dramatic\, hands on methods used in LARP\, teaching is often effortless and fun. Players explore concepts from history\, linguistics\, political studies\, geography\, psychology\, literature\, mythology\, engineering\, science\, mathematics\, fine arts\, team building\, and much\, much more in a single session and often don’t even realize they are learning due to the fact that they are the active participant in the process\, not the passive receiver.\nThis event takes place in two parts\, weekly\, in Palo Alto at Mitchell Park. The first session from 1:30pm-4:00pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 4:30pm-7pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. This class provides an after school activity that is social\, physical\, and mentally challenging in a time when kids more and more are finding sedentary\, electronic alternatives to real human interactions. Both sessions involve players making and role playing as characters in a shared imaginary world that spans the Bay Area and has hundreds of players continuously involved in collaborating on the process of storytelling and adventure. These events also tie into the weekend events and other leagues which have been a tradition in the area for the past ten years. Players must learn to battle with safe larp weaponry\, solve intricate story elements\, role play as a wide variety of monsters and creatures of the world\, and manage their resources carefully. LARP is helping transform the lives of children all across the Bay Area and beyond. \nFanwar Camps \n(Palo Alto – Fall 2019) \nSpring Hours 1:30-4:00pm & 4:30-7:00pm! \n  \nInformation \n  \nRegistration: New players can only join on the first event of the month.  All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville at a Fanwar event. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check as well. \nReminder: We are a group of families that get together to hire a gamemaster. At most events\, adults are required to remain on site. HOWEVER: because this event is during the week and is a succession of weekdays\, this requirement is being waived for this event only\, provided you have emergency contacts on file with the organizer and your child does not pose a significant risk to the flow\, safety\, or management of the event.  All children who do not have adults on hand to chaperon them must demonstrate that they are responsible and cooperative and cannot leave the premises for the duration of the camp hours with express written permission (see below). \nCost: Players sign up for one month at a time.  They must pay for the entire month on the first event of the month.  Players are not allowed pay for each day they attend\, but must make one payment of the total they attend.  If they do not attend all the sessions\, they may apply the credit to future events.  Trades for crafting of supplies and repair work is also accepted for those who wish to play a lot but keep the costs down.  See Christopher for projects to do as trade. \nLocation: The camp is being held at Mitchell Park\, in Palo Alto.  We usually meet near the “Push” Statue\, but may have to relocate depending on what other events are happening in the park that week. \nWhat to bring: Students need to bring food (if attending both sessions)\, clothing for variation in the weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events. \nFood and Water: As mentioned above\, food and water are not provided\, and students must bring their own food for this event each day if they are attending both sessions. \nSchedule: We plan to meet every Wednesday and begin in the afternoon with the first session from 1:30pm-4:00pm and the second from 4:30pm-7:00pm.  Each session is a series of missions\, training\, and role-playing encounters.  (If you need early drop off or late pickup- contact me) \n  \nNOTE: The Payment System has changed.  Players must pay at the start of the month for the whole month (see me if this is a problem for you.  Credit is applied for any days did not attend that month.)  No paying per day. \n  \nDates: \n\nMarch (4th\, 11nd\, 18th\, 25th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\n  \n\nApril (1st\,8th\,15th\,22nd\,29th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\n  \n\nMay (6th\, 13th\,20th\,27th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\nFor more on Why LARP is a tremendous teaching tool\, check out the links below!\nhttp://www.fanwar.com/e107_files/downloads/WhyPlayLARP.pdf \nSign Up Forms and more info is available on the home page and below!

SUMMARY:Palo Alto Weekly League (Winter Hours!)
DESCRIPTION:SIGN UP FORMS HERE \nLive Action Role Playing is a tremendous teaching tool and capable of dynamic\, physically driven learning that transcends the usual boundaries of standard education. The first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 3:15pm-5:45pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. \nFanwar Camps \n(Palo Alto – Winter 2019-20) \nWinter Hours 12:15-2:45pm & 3:15-5:45pm! \n  \nInformation \n  \nRegistration: New players can only join on the first event of the month.  All families must pre-register for this event. SUMMARY:NEW PALO ALTO Weekend League!
DESCRIPTION:This event will see use making new\, very simple characters in a low powered setting in which\, in the first month\, players are exploring ways to unlock or gain Backstories for their characters.
The first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 3:15pm-5:45pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. \nSchedule: We plan to meet every Wednesday and begin in the afternoon with the first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and the second from 3:15pm-5:45pm. \n  \nDates: \n\nNovember (6th\,14th\,20th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\n  \n\nDecember (4th\,11th\,18th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\n  \n\n (8th\,15th\,22nd\,29th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\n  \n\n (5th\, 12th\,19th\,26th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the month.\n\nFor more on Why LARP is a tremendous teaching tool\, check out the links below!\nhttp://www.fanwar.com/e107_files/downloads/WhyPlayLARP.pdf \nSign Up Forms and more info is available on the home page and below!

Participants will be involved in an ongoing adventure in a market\, buying\, selling\, trading\, dancing\, singing\, playing at sport\, or debating in their respective roles. Upon arrival\, participants will be given a collection of gold to spend at the festival to ensure a lively and active market!\nAll Quest/Character leagues are invited (but the setting will be in Olden Hold in the Roekron game world of Christopher’s LARP.  We have permission to use the athletic fields for some of our games\, so we will be able to do a few matches or skirmishes if the weather is good.\n\n\nFor Tony Quest Players: Tony’s world is set in a world called Teriock.  If you play Tony\, but not Chris\, you don’t have a Roekron based character to play at the festival. Here are your options:(1) If you play advanced with Tony in Berkeley – play a baddy for cost of $10. You will be NPC’s roles the GM needs (and will still have an opportunity to purchase real world items).\n\n(2) Play a Merchant from Teriock. You will play a merchant connected with your character who is doing business on your behalf. You will make gold\, but not gain a level. You will have the opportunity to run your own booth as well.\n(3) Travel a Character. Your character will not be playable during the travel which usually takes 1 week to arrive and 1 week to return. You do NOT receive the entry gold\, as it is assumed this was the cost you paid for your ships travel. You also may be subject to at sea encounters or sinking.\n\nVENDORS: If you would like to be a vendor\, and sell or trade homemade items at the festival\, you will need to bring a few key things. You will need a  tablecloth\, or a blanket to set on the floor or table to display your wares. You will need some place to store your money from purchases as well as a way to make change for people who buy your items. You will also need price tags.  These can be hand made and should display either a dollar value (indicated by the “$” sign) or a gold value (indicated by a “g.p.”) or both (you can sell something for $1 dollar AND 1 g.p. if you like). The goal is to provide a fun and memorable event\, and for everyone to benefit in the process.  PLEASE NOTE- Food and drinks cannot be sold for real world money at this event\, only game world gold (see below for ways to get refunded for your food costs). \nPossible items for vendors to sell are as follows: \nFood (cookies\, chocolate\, treats\, fruit\, baked goods\, kabobs\, popcorn\, etc. but keep in mind it should be served in a way that fits the fantasy setting) [NOTE- food can only be sold for game world money\, not real world money] If you would like bring more expensive food\, you can have Christopher purchase it from you before the event\, and then sell it only for game money (thus you CAN make money if you bring food). \n\nDrinks (water\, apple cider\, hot chocolate\, juice\, soda\, etc. again\, keep in mind it should be served in a way that fits the fantasy setting).  [NOTE- drinks can ONLY be sold for game world money\, not real world money]\n\nCharacter Costume Pieces: Belts\, rings\, amulets\, shirts\, boots\, cloaks\, bags\, etc. Costumes CAN be sold for real world money ($)\n\nLARP Weaponry (daggers\, arrows\, swords\, axes\, bows\, shields\, armor\, wands\, staves\, etc.) Make sure your items pass safety checks.
The first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 3:15pm-5:45pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville at a Fanwar event. SUMMARY:CANCELED due to Rain/Wind! 12/7/19 Battle & Project League
DESCRIPTION:Canceled Due to Rain/Wind!  12/7/19  No Project League on this day as a major storm is going to be hitting and it will rain most of the day with 20mph winds.  See you all next time. \n\n10-1pm – Battle Focus open to all levels of play. Lots of great combat\, adventures\, and minimal plot. The place to be to get skilled at the game and get into some massive quests.  If no new players come to this event\, it becomes a Project League.  Player will run various projects they need to complete while less experienced players practice the core elements of battle. \n2pm-5pm –  Project League.  This league invites players from all leagues to come and work on personal projects and plot lines from various days and bring them to completion.  Players can work on Elder Sorcery\, Blessings\, Familiars\, Side Quests\, Class Requirements\, and Character Development in general.  Rather than being directed by the GM\, this league seeks to ask the players what they need to get done and then designs ways to accomplish those aims.

The first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 3:15pm-5:45pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. \nSchedule: We plan to meet every Wednesday and begin in the afternoon with the first session from 12:15pm-2:45pm and the second from 3:15pm-5:45pm.
