DESCRIPTION:Berkeley Battle Quest in Teriock! \nThis is open to all players ages 8-18*. (Parents play for free!) Quest League is for both new and experienced players who enjoy a balance of play and plot.  There are two 3 hour sessions in the day: \n10am-1pm: Battle! This session is mostly battles concluding with the In Town Encounter of the day.  If you have never played Fanwar before this is the session for you.  If you enjoyed the morning session\, feel free to sign up for the afternoon. \n2pm-5pm:  Quest! This is where the plot thickens!  In the second session help the group choose the missions in which to embark upon.  Work as a team to defeat the enemy\, decode the riddle\, or solve the mystery that awaits you in the Teriock Game world.

DESCRIPTION:Fanwar Weekly Leagues \n(Thursday Sebastopol–2021-2022) \nFall and Spring Hours 1:00-3:30pm & 4:00-6:30pm (Winter 12:30-3pm\, 3:30pm-6pm) \nInformation Sheet \nRegistration: New players can only join on the first event of the month.  All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville at a Fanwar event. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check as well. \nReminder: because this event is during the week\, parents are not required onsite\, provided you have emergency contacts on file with the organizer and your child does not pose a significant risk to the flow\, safety\, or management of the event.  All children must demonstrate that they are responsible and cooperative and cannot leave the premises for the duration of the camp hours with express written permission (see below). \nCost: Players sign up for one month at a time.  They must pay for the entire month on the first event of the month.  Players are not allowed pay for each day they attend\, but must make one payment of the total they attend.  If they do not attend all the sessions\, they may apply the credit to future events.  Trades for crafting of supplies and repair work is also accepted for those who wish to play a lot but keep the costs down.  See Christopher for projects to do as trade. \nLocation: The camp is being held at Willard Libby Park\, in Sebastopol.  We usually meet near the Gazebo\, but may have to relocate depending on what other events are happening in the park that week. \nWhat to bring: Students need to bring food and water (if attending both sessions)\, clothing for variation in the weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events. \nFood and Water: As mentioned above\, food and water are not provided\, and students must bring their own food for this event each day if they are attending both sessions. \nSchedule: We plan to meet every Thursday and begin in the afternoon\, with an early afternoon and an evening session.  Each session is a series of missions\, training\, and role-playing encounters.  (If you need early drop off or late pickup- contact me). \nWeather & Emergencies: Though we plan to meet on the listed days\, there are some where we simply cannot safely run LARP outdoors.  If the fields are saturated due to rain\, and closed by the city\, or if wildfire smoke makes outside air unhealthy for kids\, or if heavy rain and wind are forecast during the hours of larp\, we usually cancel that day.  Keep an eye on the website www.fanwar.com and our Facebook Page\, for updates about date cancelations. \n\n\n\nDates Each Month\nTimes You Plan to Attend.\nCost per month\nTotal\n\n\n \nFall Sessions\n \n \n\n\nAug. If you question your health or your child’s health in any way\, please do not come in.  Safety is first and foremost. \n\nParents and Students Responsibilities: the following items are needed for each student to have at the camp for their personal use.  It is the responsibility of the parents and students to make sure these items are bought every day.\n\nFace Mask or Covering (cloth or other breathable fabric\, covers the nose and mouth but allows for safe breathing while active)\nBag or Box Lunch (since unvaccinated students cannot leave the campus\, some must bring enough food for themselves to be comfortable all day long)\n\n\n\n\nFork Friendly Foods (we want to discourage any students from eating foods with their hands at camp.  If possible\, please send food that allows your child to eat with a fork\, or is wrapped in such a way as to allow them to not need to touch it to eat it).\n\n\nDrinking Water (students will not have access to drinking fountains or other drinking water on site\, so they must bring enough water for them to be comfortable all day long in changeable weather).\nSoapy Spray Bottle (this bottle should be filled with water and soap that is safe for your child to use on themself.  It can be used to spray on their hands or personal items they wish to clean when the bathroom is not available.  If a spray bottle isn’t available\, a labeled water bottle filled with soapy water should work.\nHand towel (since students may need to wash dry their hands more often than usual\, it will be helpful for them to have a decent sized towel that they can dry their hands on should they need extra washing between bathroom visits).\n\n\nSunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed).\nEmergency First Aid Card: Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to Christopher’s Box at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies.\n\n\nBackpack or Bag for all the above items: Since students need more personal items than usual\, providing something with their name on it that can contain all these items is a necessity.\n\n  \n\nStudent Responsibilities (there are the pieces that need to be enforced with the students to be sure we are protecting each other and the use of our facilities)\n\nFace Masks/Covering Required: All students at the camp must have a face mask on during all larp activities.\nStay in your Group: Students will be broken into groups of no more than 12 unvaccinated players which will be referred to as their Group Number:  These groups will be supplemented with more fully vaccinated players bringing group sizes closer to 20-25 as of 5-17-2021 (Update- while groups will still be mostly Static\, they may now engage in one or two encounters with other groups but mostly for short periods of time\, and the majority of the day is spent isolated from all other groups)- 6/15/2021\nNon-Vaccinated Students cannot leave the campus grounds during camp: We must keep our groups from any unnecessary contacts\, and this means no leaving campus for lunch or any other purpose during the day.\nStudents must only use the bathrooms one at a time: We have access to a bathroom that is directly off the blackstop\, and will not enter the other school buildings at any time.  We will only use this bathroom one at a time and must get permission from our group leader before we do.\nReduce Germs in the Bathroom: Students should refrain from touching items in the bathroom with their hands (using a paper towel etc. instead).  If a toilet has a lid\, it should be shut before flushing to reduce particles entering the air.  Students must wash their hands for 20 seconds and thoroughly rinse and dry them before returning to larp activities.\nWash Hands before eating lunch: Students need to be sure they wash their hands before starting to eat at lunch to reduce the chances of any germs being transferred to food.\nDuring lunch\, six feet apart: Since we will be taking our masks off to eat\, students must sit six feet apart during lunch.\nStay in the areas designated for larp only: We have use of the space at our site for larp\, but only the outside areas which we must take care of.\nWash Hands before Leaving LARP: Before leaving LARP to go home\, each student will be sure to wash their hands\, either with their personal supplies for this\, or at the bathroom as usual.\n\n\n\n  \n\nChanges to Game Rules and Procedures:\n\nWe may adjust certain game rules if necessary to allow for more social distancing and health measures\, but currently\, the core rules set works for current health and safety procedures. \nIf you\, or your child cannot or will not comply with these procedures they will be barred from the camp and future camps as well.

If you question your health or your child’s health in any way\, please do not come in.  Safety is first and foremost. \n\nParents and Students Responsibilities: the following items are needed for each student to have at the camp for their personal use.  It is the responsibility of the parents and students to make sure these items are bought every day.\n\nFace Mask or Covering (cloth or other breathable fabric\, covers the nose and mouth but allows for safe breathing while active)\nBag or Box Lunch (since unvaccinated students cannot leave the campus\, some must bring enough food for themselves to be comfortable all day long)\n\n\n\n\nFork Friendly Foods (we want to discourage any students from eating foods with their hands at camp.  If possible\, please send food that allows your child to eat with a fork\, or is wrapped in such a way as to allow them to not need to touch it to eat it).\n\n\nDrinking Water (students will not have access to drinking fountains or other drinking water on site\, so they must bring enough water for them to be comfortable all day long in changeable weather).\nSoapy Spray Bottle (this bottle should be filled with water and soap that is safe for your child to use on themself.  It can be used to spray on their hands or personal items they wish to clean when the bathroom is not available.  If a spray bottle isn’t available\, a labeled water bottle filled with soapy water should work.\nHand towel (since students may need to wash dry their hands more often than usual\, it will be helpful for them to have a decent sized towel that they can dry their hands on should they need extra washing between bathroom visits).\n\n\nSunscreen or Hats as needed (since it can be quite hot at times\, and players will also be wearing masks and gloves\, hats that keep off the sun and/or sunscreen that they can use are needed).\nEmergency First Aid Card: Each student should bring a card with their emergency contact number\, and any prudent health issues\, such as allergies\, etc. clearly printed on it\, to be turned in to Christopher’s Box at the start of the camp\, in case of emergencies.\n\n\nBackpack or Bag for all the above items: Since students need more personal items than usual\, providing something with their name on it that can contain all these items is a necessity.\n\n  \n\nStudent Responsibilities (there are the pieces that need to be enforced with the students to be sure we are protecting each other and the use of our facilities)\n\nFace Masks/Covering Required: All students at the camp must have a face mask on during all larp activities.\nStay in your Group: Students will be broken into groups of no more than 12 unvaccinated players which will be referred to as their Group Number:  These groups will be supplemented with more fully vaccinated players bringing group sizes closer to 20-25 as of 5-17-2021 (Update- while groups will still be mostly Static\, they may now engage in one or two encounters with other groups but mostly for short periods of time\, and the majority of the day is spent isolated from all other groups)- 6/15/2021\nNon-Vaccinated Students cannot leave the campus grounds during camp: We must keep our groups from any unnecessary contacts\, and this means no leaving campus for lunch or any other purpose during the day.\nStudents must only use the bathrooms one at a time: We have access to a bathroom that is directly off the blackstop\, and will not enter the other school buildings at any time.  We will only use this bathroom one at a time and must get permission from our group leader before we do.\nReduce Germs in the Bathroom: Students should refrain from touching items in the bathroom with their hands (using a paper towel etc. instead).  If a toilet has a lid\, it should be shut before flushing to reduce particles entering the air.  Students must wash their hands for 20 seconds and thoroughly rinse and dry them before returning to larp activities.\nWash Hands before eating lunch: Students need to be sure they wash their hands before starting to eat at lunch to reduce the chances of any germs being transferred to food.\nDuring lunch\, six feet apart: Since we will be taking our masks off to eat\, students must sit six feet apart during lunch.\nStay in the areas designated for larp only: We have use of the space at our site for larp\, but only the outside areas which we must take care of.\nWash Hands before Leaving LARP: Before leaving LARP to go home\, each student will be sure to wash their hands\, either with their personal supplies for this\, or at the bathroom as usual.\n\n\n\n  \n\nChanges to Game Rules and Procedures:\n\nWe may adjust certain game rules if necessary to allow for more social distancing and health measures\, but currently\, the core rules set works for current health and safety procedures. \nIf you\, or your child cannot or will not comply with these procedures they will be barred from the camp and future camps as well.

DESCRIPTION:Note- this is the camp for players who are new and experienced players as well.  It is one of the only camps I offer this summer that trains new players\, so if your child is new\, you need to sign up for this camp if you want to attend other camps. \nFanwar Camps \n(Palo Alto – SUMMER 2021) \nSummer Hours 9am- 5:00pm! \nInformation \nRegistration:  All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. To register fill out registration form and e-mail to christophermelville@fanwar.com or turn in to Christopher Melville at a Fanwar event. Payment may be given to Christopher at a Fanwar event\, sent via PayPal at the above email address\, or sent in the mail (PO BOX 149\, Graton CA 95444).  Make checks payable to Christopher Melville or Fanwar LARP and please write your child’s name on the check as well. \nCOVID-19 Update: Due to the increased need for safety procedures during this pandemic\, we must follow these guidelines below if we plan to attend any LARP camps this summer.  These guidelines are based on state and county laws and keep us all safe and able to enjoy this outdoor experience.  If these guidelines are not being followed\, it jeopardizes the entire camp\, and we may lose our opportunity to attend the camps all together\, or worse\, may shut down the entire camp\, so please take these measures very seriously. \nCost: The week costs $350 per person. \nLocation: The day camp is being held at Mitchell Park in Palo Alto CA.  We usually meet near the “Push” statue\, but may have to relocate depending on what other events are happening in the park that week.  If COVID-19 causes this to be impossible\, we will first attempt to secure a private facility\, and if that too is not allowed\, we will do out camp online. \nWhat to bring: Students need to bring a lunch\, clothing for variation in the summer weather\, as well as adequate sun protection and good athletic shoes.  Costumes and props are also a wonderful addition to our events. \nFood: As mentioned above\, lunch is not provided and students must bring their own lunches for this event each day.  If your childs wishs to leave the park for lunch\, they will need written permission from you to do so. \nSchedule: We begin setup around 8:30am\, and start game promptly at 9am every day and play until 12pm.  We take an hour lunch break from 12-1pm and a role play only town setting from 1-2pm.  We run a second session from 2pm-4:30pm and wrap up by 5pm.  The morning is mostly active battles\, skills building\, and adventures.  The afternoon is heavily story based and advances the plot.  We may do crafting sessions if health codes allow and player express interest.  (If you need early drop off or late pickup- contact me). \nOne form per family – note- if you have already submitted this information for another camp and no contact info has changed\, you only need to fill out the childs name\, indicate which camps your child plans to attend\, send payment\, and sign the back of this form. \nDates: \nNOTE: The Format for Events has changed.  Only TWO camps allows new players to join who have never played before.  These camps are the (June 7th-11th) & (July 19th-23rd) Camp.  All other camps are for players who know the game already. \n\nJune (June 7th-11th) New players are welcome so long as they attend from the first day of the camp!\nJune (June 21st-25th) No new players allowed at this event. DESCRIPTION:CANCELED Until Further Notice due to Health Orders (due to the spike in COVID-19 cases in California and our area\, Health Orders remain in place that prevent a return to outdoor LARP as we usually do.  We may do modified events and a few online events\, but until LARP can return outdoors\, events will be very limited. \nSIGN UP FORMS HERE \nLive Action Role Playing is a tremendous teaching tool and capable of dynamic\, physically driven learning that transcends the usual boundaries of standard education. Due to the interactive\, dramatic\, hands on methods used in LARP\, teaching is often effortless and fun. Players explore concepts from history\, linguistics\, political studies\, geography\, psychology\, literature\, mythology\, engineering\, science\, mathematics\, fine arts\, team building\, and much\, much more in a single session and often don’t even realize they are learning due to the fact that they are the active participant in the process\, not the passive receiver.\nThis event takes place in two parts\, weekly\, in Palo Alto at Mitchell Park. The first session from 1:30pm-4pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating. The second session from 4:30pm-7pm continues this story and expands upon it\, challenging players to follow through on their projects and connect to those of others. This class provides an after school activity that is social\, physical\, and mentally challenging in a time when kids more and more are finding sedentary\, electronic alternatives to real human interactions. These events also tie into the weekend events and other leagues which have been a tradition in the area for the past ten years. Players must learn to battle with safe larp weaponry\, solve intricate story elements\, role play as a wide variety of monsters and creatures of the world\, and manage their resources carefully. LARP is helping transform the lives of children all across the Bay Area and beyond. \nFanwar Camps \n(Palo Alto – Fall 2019) \nSpring Hours 1:30-4:00pm & 4:30-7:00pm! \n  \nInformation \n  \nRegistration: New players can only join on the first event of the month.  All families must pre-register for this event. There are a limited number of spaces available. Registration and payment are required to save your spot. DESCRIPTION:This league has moved online for now and also has moved to the Third Saturday of the month.  If you play this league then you know where to find the doc. \nThis League is for more advanced players who enjoy a change in the game and story from many other leagues.  The league follows a plot line that only occurs at this event\, and so allows players in this league to track the entire story and only have to come to this one event.  The play level is challenging but the rules are the same. \nThis event takes place in two parts\, once a month\, in Sebastopol at Willard Libby Park.  The first session is from 10:00am-1:00pm and trains players in the game\, as well as continues an ongoing story the players themselves are involved in creating.
